Carlisa Mathis was born in Highland Park and grew up in Detroit. A graduate of St. Martin de Porres High School, Carlisa has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Detroit Mercy. Carlisa is the proud parent of eight year old twins.
Carlisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and her work has taught her the value of listening, advocating for others, and finding solutions that balance both immediate needs and long-term well-being. These are the same skills that she will bring to Lathrup Village City Council. As a resident of Lathrup Village for 28 years, Carlisa is committed to preserving the welcoming and family-oriented community. Carlisa professional experiences allow her to approach issues with empathy, patience and clear communication, ensuring that all voices are heard in the decision-making process. Carlisa is running for City Council because she believes Lathrup Village deserves thoughtful, transparent, and inclusive leadership that secures the city's future, preserves its identity and supports everyday life.
